Department Overview:
Product Development & Strategy (“PDS”):
Capital Dynamics’ Product Development and Strategy team is responsible for the launch of every product on the CD platform across a diverse set of alternative investment strategies and local markets. The team also has ownership of a number of critical strategic initiatives across the firm including identifying opportunities to expand our investment strategies, launch into new markets, and orchestrate the firm’s ESG program and practices. It is a diverse and global group of talented and highly motivated individuals, which sits at the intersection of investment, sales, legal, compliance, structuring and responsible investment functions. Exceeding in this role requires strong critical thinking, the ability to construct an argument and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing), as well as strong quantitative fundamentals and understanding of the private markets.
Private Equity – Secondaries:
Global secondaries acquire limited partnership interest in established, high quality, mature leveraged buyout, growth capital and certain established venture capital funds and managers. The team’s differentiated approach focuses on smaller and more complex secondary transactions on a global basis, including fund restructuring, tail-end wind-down transactions, and preferred interest structures.
The deal sourcing and due diligence advantages that come with an established PE platform make the secondaries team a valuable partner.
Role Purpose:
Capital Dynamics are seeking to hire a Vice President or Senior Vice President, Product Specialist (Secondaries) to work within the Product Development & Strategy (PDS) team to support of our Global Secondaries business.
Working as part of a highly collaborative Global Secondaries team, the Product Specialist will have experience in designing compelling marketing collateral, driving investor engagement during (and between) fundraising periods, and have a deep understanding of the secondaries market to drive continued product innovation and evolution. This individual will report jointly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Head of Private Equity - Secondaries .
The role requires strong financial and technical writing skills, critical thinking, and strong attention to detail. It is essential for the individual to work effectively as an individual contributor, but also have interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong, effective working relationships with key team members across the Firm.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Lead the fund launch of Capital Dynamics’s Global Secondaries flagship offering and related programs.
• Create compelling pitch for investors with the support of a highly capable investment team.
• Drive continued product innovation through having a deep understanding of the market.
• Keep up to date with the global secondaries market.
• Speak with our key investors about the secondaries program and market.
• Ensure that we are continuing to build and maintain connectivity to our investor base.
• Lead thought leadership for the firm on secondaries ideas, white papers, and research efforts.
• Understand how to apply ESG / responsible investment considerations to secondaries offering.
• Project management to assist sales professionals in fundraising efforts including tracking key milestones and fundraising meetings.
• Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all products are compliant with relevant regulations.
• Work closely with Investment Management and Legal/Compliance teams to ensure that marketing materials are in accordance with Firm's policies and disclosure requirements.
• Assist with production of monthly product memorandums with input from key stakeholders within the firm.
Key Competencies:
• Proven experience working as a product specialist, product manager or investor relations specialist at a private equity firm, asset manager or investment bank.
• Deep knowledge of the global secondaries market, private markets terminology, and competitive landscape.
• Experience supporting funds launch, producing high quality marketing materials, drafting business section of a private placement memorandum (ppm).
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills (articulate and balanced).
• Ability to structure and present complex ideas and information in a simple persuasive form, both written and verbal.
• A highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently while operating within a highly integrated global team context.
Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from a leading college / university.
• A master’s degree is desired though not essential.
• Preferred degree subjects include Business, Finance, Economic, Responsible Investment etc.
• Exceptional proficiency MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Excel.
Languages:
• Must be fluent in English and display superior writing skills.
• Additional language skills, preferably Italian, German, French, Korean or Japanese, though not essential.
