17 September 2025 – Capital Dynamics, an independent global private asset management firm, is proud to announce that it has been named “Infrastructure Manager of the Year” at the European Pensions Awards 2025.
The European Pensions Awards recognize the investment firms, consultancies and pensions providers from across Europe that set the highest professional standards and deliver exceptional value to pension funds. This recognition underscores Capital Dynamics’ leadership in advancing Europe’s energy transition and reflects the trust placed in the firm by many of the UK and Europe’s most forward-looking pension schemes.
Dario Bertagna, Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Clean Energy at Capital Dynamics added: “We are delighted to be recognised by European Pensions for our leadership in serving pension funds. We aim to create exceptional value for clients through our clean energy investments, and we look forward to continuing that journey alongside the European pension fund community.”
Barney Coles, Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Clean Energy commented: “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, the strong relationships we have built with our clients and the lasting impact of our clean energy infrastructure investments.”
The judging panel recognised several milestones that distinguished Capital Dynamics over the past year. The launch of two flagship funds, one targeting the UK market with currently 58 per cent of its commitments from Local Government Pension Schemes, and the other, dedicated to the European market, with 70 per cent of its capital raised from European pension funds. Judges also praised the impact Capital Dynamics’ projects have achieved in supporting employment in local communities, particularly through committing £19.4 million via our community fund.
A notable example highlighted by the judges is the collaboration with Clwyd Pension Fund, which expanded it mandate in 2024 to finance new green energy projects across Wales. Structured as a Separately Managed Account, this partnership directly supports Wales’s ambition to generate 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.
All of Capital Dynamics’ clean energy funds are aligned with the EU Taxonomy and classified under Article 9 of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) – the highest European standard for sustainable investment strategies. Through long-term power purchase agreements with investment-grade counterparties such as BP and HSBC, the firm continues to protect investor from market volatility while enabling the integration of technologies like battery storage and smart grids.
Winning Infrastructure Manager of the Year is a milestone that reflects Capital Dynamics’ deep commitment to building a clean, resilient energy future for Europe. The firm will continue to work hand on hand with pension funds to finance the energy transition, deliver attractive returns, and create lasting social and environmental impact.
